A Note and Thank-You to All My Subscribers

Why you are now seeing articles for paid subscribers only

Several of you have asked why you are getting posts that are limited to paid subscribers and whether everyone will still get my posts without a paid subscription. When I recently created this Substack account , I did not do it to make any money from it. That was not my motive. So, I initially set it up for no paid subscriptions — anyone could subscribe to everything for free. Much to my surprise, several people begin making pledges for monthly or annual subscriptions. I then began getting emails from Substack telling me that I needed to activate the option for paid subscriptions. After talking with some of the initial subscribers, I did that.

So, I now have a number of people who have voluntarily paid for a subscription. Therefore, I feel honor-bound to give them a little some extra.

So yesterday I posted my first article for subscribers only.

I plan and hope to keep posting articles for all subscribers, but periodically you will see some for paid subscribers only. Don’t get upset – Most of my articles will still be available for everyone. But I did believe that those who volunteered to pay for a subscription should get a few bonus articles, lest they think I or Substack was not being fair to them.

I appreciate everyone here and wanted all of you to understand the background and reasons for this.
