My Virgin Post
I decided to establish a Substack account at the suggestion of Instapundit, Professor
. I have known Glenn for years and read his Instapundit multiple times a day. I have written periodically for The Federalist and my articles are collected here, but Glenn suggested Substack as a way of avoiding the risk of spending hours on an article only to have the editors decide not to run with it, while still being able to reach a wide audience.I have had a varied career, starting as an enlisted man in the U.S. Army Special Forces (commonly known as Green Berets), before entering West Point in 1965 and graduating four years later as a proud member of the Class of 1969.
The name of this blog, Bravo Blue, is from my position in Vietnam, as the commander of the “Blue” Platoon, with Bravo Troop, 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry, which is seen below and was the reconnaissance arm of the 1st Cavalry Division.
While there, no one called me by my name, or ever “Lieutenant.” As the leader of the Blue Platoon, I was simply called “Blue,” which also was my standard radio call-sign. For more about this very interesting unit, take a look at The Bravo Blues.
After Vietnam, I decided to go to law school, graduating from the University of Texas in 1977. I enjoyed a successful commercial litigation practice with a large, multi-national law firm, including a successful argument before the U.S. Supreme Court, followed by stints with several smaller firms.
In July 2023, I finally managed to pull off a successful retirement and hope to devote my time to my family, my dogs, writing and generally enjoying life.
I typically won’t publish something every day, but initially will shoot for once a week or so. As with my writing for The Federalist, my focus will be on topics that relate to the military or legal issues, or both.
Thanks for reading!
