In August 2021, when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had only been in office for seven months, I authored an article in The Federalist, titled “If Joe Biden’s Team Will Lie About His Dog Biting People, What Won’t They Lie About?” I ended that post with a question:
When the president allows his key advisors lie to us about a dog bite, the only confidence the American people can have is that he will not be honest with us about these and other life-and-death matters if the truth would hurt his poll numbers or endanger Democrats’ reelection chances.
In the ensuing three years, The Biden-Harris administration, and all its fellow travelers have repeatedly answered that question by showing that there is nothing that they will not lie to us about. But the lies accelerated in the weeks after the Biden-Trump debate, the attempted assassination of President Trump, and President Biden’s forced withdrawal and anointing of Kamala Harris as his hoped-for successor.
To discuss all of the examples of this would expand this article to a War and Peace-like length. I therefore will limit my present observations to two points relating to the panicked effort to distance Harris from her “Border Czar” role. Although there has been much discussion of that already, I will offer two points about those lies that have been little discussed elsewhere.
1. The admission of failure that highlights their prior lies.
For 3 1/2 years now, Harris, Mayorkas, and everyone in their orbit, including their trumpeters in the press, have loudly proclaimed that, “the border is secure.” You all heard it. We were assured that the Biden-Harris border policies were a great success in keeping with the inscription on the Statue of Liberty. The border was secure!
It was all a lie. Most people know that because they saw the invasion in real time on TV, unless, of course, they watched MSNBC exclusively. But our so–called leaders, never would admit it.
They were lying. We knew they were lying. They knew that we knew they were lying. But they did it anyway. Why? Well, remember the parable of the frog and the scorpion: Like the scorpion, it is in their nature.
But now the lies are laid bare. If the repeated mantras that “the border is secure” were true, Harris would now be embracing her role as border czar. We would be hearing, “Of course I was the border czar! And what a fine job I did, too. The border has always been secure/ Now, thanks to my great work that qualifies me to become president, and Joe Biden has done the right thing by passing the torch to the younger generation.”
But that is not what we are seeing and hearing. Harris is running from the border like a scalded dog. The fact that she and others are doing everything possible to distance herself from any responsibility from the border disaster belies any rational denial that their prior statements were true. Her present panicked retreat proves that they have been lying all along about border security.
As I said, there is nothing that they will not lie about.
2. Border Czar? What Border Czar? Maybe, “The Big Enchilada”?
After holding out Vice President Harris as the person responsible for border security until just a few days ago, Harris and her tribe are now attempting to reinvent her role. They hope we will believe it. It is another pack of lies.
There has been much writing and discussion about this, and I will not attempt to duplicate it. I will limit myself to two points that illustrate the lie.
There is no such a thing as a Border Czar?
Their first line of defense is “Border Czar? What on earth are you talking about? There is no such position in the US government.”
Some low IQ voters may buy that. But the obvious answer is that, of course we do not have a government official whose official title is “Czar.” Talk about a straw man! Russians had czars, while we have a president and vice president, cabinet secretaries, an attorney general, and other officials with various titles. But no Czars.
But what we most certainly did have was a Vice President who was cloaked by the President with presidential-level authority to solve the border crisis. Of course, they never would admit there was a crisis. Instead, Harris and her boss (yes, we have bosses in the federal government, too) asked us to disbelieve our lyin’ eyes when we saw the caravans and mobs storming across the southern border.
I will skip over the myriad examples of the captive media that now gaslight us with the “The Vice President was never a Border Czar” who routinely referred to her as the “Border Czar” before their Democratic handlers altered them to this new defense to her incompetence. If you want to see some, look here, and here. But let’s just take a quick look at how normal people use and understand the phrase.
If you want to look at just a common layperson’s understanding of how “czar” is routinely used in common parlance, here’s Wikipedia:
Czar, sometimes spelled tsar, is an informal title used for certain high-level officials in the United States and United Kingdom, typically granted broad power to address a particular issue.
Everyone not employed by the White House, the DNC, MSNBC and the other ancién regime media fully understand, “czar” is just slang shorthand for a person vested with broad powers to preside over a particular problem. Sort of like “boss” or “honcho.” It is routinely used to describe officials to whom great power has been delegated.
For example, ProPublica (and others) referred to John Kerry as Biden’s “Energy Czar” with no denials or pushback. Take a look: John Kerry, Biden’s Climate Czar, Talks About Saving the Planet.
When John Mitchell was Richard Nixon’s attorney general, he sometimes was termed, “The Big Enchilada.” I think we all understood that there was no official government office formally occupied by a Big Enchilada.
Harris’ role was just diplomatic efforts to determine the root causes of the invasion? More gaslighting.
Harris and her tribal allies are now contending that she had a very limited role that belied her being the “Border Czar.” She supposedly was merely charged with merely discovering the “root causes” of the invasion across our southern border. “Gaslighting” is too soft a term to describe this level of deception. Here are three reasons why this is utter nonsense (which may still be too polite a description).
First, if Harris’ portfolio had been limited to a root cause analysis, that should have taken about fifteen minutes. It did not require a presidential announcement attended by two Cabinet Secretaries. Every person coming across our border has their own personal reasons for doing so. Some are terrorists or enemy military agents here to do their worst; some are convicts released from Venezuelan prisons; some are Mexican drug cartel members plying their trade; some are sex traffickers; others come lured by the promise of welfare benefits, free schooling and other government handouts; some unknown numbers are honest people seeking a job; and another unknown but small number are true political refugees. But these are individual motives, not root causes.
The root cause of all these and others is that the Biden-Harris administration loudly pronounced their desire to throw open the border to anyone and everyone and to allow millions of people to enter the country illegally. And they employed a variety of strategies to that end, from encouraging the so-called sanctuary cities to refuse to cooperate with ICE, to vacating all of President Trump’s executive orders that had helped stem the tide.
Why? Because they were quite happy to have millions of future Democrat voters flood into the border states and then transport them in the dead of night to unsuspecting cities across the country.
I know, I know…. You may say that some of them are convicts, murderers, rapist, sex, traffickers, and the like. But as the “progressives” like to point out, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.
Second, consider the interview Harris gave to Lester Holt on NBC’s Today Show. Harris never denied her broad authority for the border, even when it would be the logical thing to do in response to his questions, if her role were as limited as she now claims.
When Holt asked Harris about her failure to visit the border, her response was not, “My role is limited. I’m not the ‘Border Czar’ like you in the press have been calling me; I’m just a root cause gal.” After first lying about it (“We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border. We’ve been to the border.”), when pushed, her amended response became, “And I haven’t been to Europe.” And she promised to go to the border “at some point.” But she did not utter a single word about having only a limited role that did not require her to go to the border.
Finally, whatever label you put on the Harris in her role vis á vis the border, President Joe Biden made it clear that he had bestowed Presidential-level authority upon her to deal with the border issues. Here is how the AP described the announcement and Harris’ role at the time of the announcement in March 2021:
President Joe Biden has tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the White House effort to tackle the migration challenge at the U.S. southern border and work with Central American nations to address root causes of the problem.
Biden made the announcement as he and Harris met at the White House on Wednesday with Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandra Mayorkas and other immigration advisers to discuss the increase in migrants, including many unaccompanied minors, arriving at the border in recent weeks.

Harris is tasked with overseeing diplomatic efforts to deal with issues spurring migration in the Northern Triangle countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, as well as pressing them to strengthen enforcement on their own borders, administration officials said. She’s also tasked with developing and implementing a long-term strategy that gets at the root causes of migration from those countries.
And what did Joe Biden say? From the AP’s report it:
“When she speaks, she speaks for me,” Biden said, noting her past work as California’s attorney general makes her specially equipped to lead the administration’s response.
Harris was “leading the response” to the “migration.” Leading the response included “developing and implementing a long-term strategy that gets at the root causes of migration.” And when she spoke, she spoke for the President. of the Unites States. Her charge obviously was not limited to just determining the root causes of the “migration.” She obviously was being told, “Solve the problem.”
By everyone’s understanding, including her own, Harris was the “Border Czar.”
Wisdom from the Brown Bomber
So, when you hear Kamala Harris and her acolytes trying to hide her role as Border Czar, remember what the great Joe Louis said about his upcoming championship bout with Billy Conn (modified to account for gender differences): “She can run but she can’t hide.”
Here’s Joe.
And here is what the GOP should adopt as their new theme song for Kamala.
I think we have been lied to so often and for so long that people have become sort of disinterested and cynical about our political process. Besides, the concept of objective truth seems to have gone by the board...everything is seen through the lens of subjectivity these days. You know, "my truth" and all that.
Politicians always shade the truth because their objective isn't to be honest with us, rather they want us to buy into their rationalization of whatever self serving policy position they're trying to enact.
It's all about a relative handful of people attaining power and then keeping themselves in power. There's no incentive for them to be honest.
The House passed a resolution last week that lambastes the VP for not fulfilling her role as Border Czar. It passed unanimously by Republicans - amazing unity for once - and with 6 Democrats. That makes it bi-lateral, non partisan. It hangs the juicy pork chop of open borders securely around Kamala's neck.
And today there are two more scandals boiling around her about her lying and lack of leadership:
Why did she cover up the President's condition for 3 1/2 years, having almost daily contact and saying nothing? She joined in the "sharp as a tack" chorus until the debate exposed this as a lie. She was responsible, and she lied.
Why isn't she providing leadership in the investigation of the attempted assassination of her now political rival? The USSS Director has resigned and not been replaced, and the Secretary of Homeland Security is silent, as is the President. Where is the leadership on this most serious threat to national security since the Reagan attempted assassination?
She's failed in her leadership in the past and she's failing today. Unlike other countries, the President of the United States is not a ceremonial position. It is an executive position.
