Setting aside political considerations...
What on earth causes seemingly grown adults to carry on in such an entirely ridiculous and bizarre fashion? To call it "childish" is to profane children, a singularly reasonable group of people.
But this sort of weird carrying-on appeals to a certain type of adult, and a lot of time and money and energy is expended on producing blue-tuxedo-wearing bunny-rabbit-air-guitar-players for their amusement.
It's mystifying...
