The line “Where do they find such men” has so much more meaning today. Every decade that passes there are less and less of these men that would qualify to do what the soldiers of the past did. Not saying there aren’t some, but the pickings would be slim.

In the movie the line was spoken by the Admiral who was played by Frederic March. William Holden played the main character, a pilot. A movie worth seeing again.

Another great article, John. Both his work and yours. I don't know where we can find such men today for today's military. They've run off or discharged many with good values and strong support for our Constitution. I can't imagine America fighting well in this environment. China, Russia and Iran are watching our military turn into mush.

A couple of readers have pointed out that William Holden was not the one who said, "Where do we find such men?" Holden was the pilot and main character, and the Admiral was played by Frederich March.

My fault.

Thanks for this, Kris. Someone else also pointed that out but your comment is a good reminder that I need to correct this error.

Thanks again.
