There is a great temptation when keyboard warriors send responses to let their pent up emotions flow. I know, I've been there.....
But the exchange of competing ideas is essential in a world where ideas help us to judge what is truth and what is not truth (as elusive as that hunt for truth can be, and is...)..
All users of this substack might want to consider if they support this belief which is often attributed to Voltaire: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”.
I discovered "Substack" and found it interesting and thought provoking. Lots of opinions and excellent discussions. I sincerely hope "Substack" doesn't turn into just another social media platform. Thank-you for your sound words. This old hermit enjoyed reading them.
Totally agree. Furthermore, it is far more interesting to read various opinions and thoughts, even they differ from one’s, than witnessing kindergarten class arguments...
Well said and well needed, John. Those with a predominantly four-letter vocabulary clearly are not effective wordsmiths. Those words should have no place in notes, posts, comments and especially headlines and titles. Curbing them is not censorship, it’s common, respectful decency.
Thank you, Charles. I value your comments immensely. are you by any chance related to the legendary Army running back and my classmate, Charlie Jarvis?
Huzzah John Lucas. The other day a friend and I were discussing how folks seem to more easily display their selfishness and anger and ignore the fundamental rules of civility.
I totally concur. If civil discourse cannot be maintained, I would encourage those who would not be constrained, to recuse themselves (lack of a known personal pronoun understood) from social comment, and join their ilk in a tent, at the college campus of their choice.
I certainly agree. Substack has been a life-saver for me, as now I can find out what is REALLY going on, without having to invert whatever MSM is saying
Paywall your comments. Paying subscribers tend to display better manners. I have, for many years, dared readers and critics to address me at a distance of six feet like they did at a distance of 600 miles. No takers so far.

An Infantryman knows that you must always seize the “high ground.” Good work, Ranger!

No, but I remember when he played. I obviously rooted for him.

I considered that, but the problem is isolated right now and I prefer to let everyone comment.
