"These people are crazy."
TDS explained: The Democrats hate Trump because he exposes them for who and what they are.
Last night during the State of the Union, in a remarkable feat of political jiu jitsu President Trump exposed the true colors of the Democratic legislators. Actually, consistent with a jiu jitsu sensei, the Dems did it to themselves — the Grand Master just used their own momentum to put them down.
Joe Biden came into office determined to undo everything that Trump had done, irrespective of whether it was good for the country or not. All that mattered was that it was Trump who had done something, so whatever he did could not be applauded and must be reversed. At the SOTU last evening the Dems carried on that tradition. No matter what Trump said, they would oppose it. They would not agree with anything; those he honored must be insulted with contemptuous silence. Applause was not to be allowed.
And with very rare exceptions, they slavishly followed that script. As Jeff Childers put it in his Substack, all the Dems sat “stone-faced, like jurors in a tax trial” throughout almost the entire presentation.
One of the most memorable — and sure to be replayed many times during the upcoming election season, was the Democrats’ refusal to acknowledge that their primary responsibility is to protect American citizens.
Trump first challenged them:
“One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe. So tonight, I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration and reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
Any Democrat loyal to their oath could have knocked that one out of the park, but they whiffed. Their hindquarters stayed glued to their seats while their mouth was firmly fastened shut.
Trump noticed that — how could he not? “Isn’t that a shame? You should be ashamed of yourself not standing up. You should be ashamed of yourself.”

Nota bene (beginning at 1:35 in the video) how would-be president Mark Kelly displays his enthusiasm for “the fundamental principle” that his first duty as a U.S. senator is “to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
No, that’s not a U.S. senator; it’s the image of a third grader who just had a bigger kid steal his lunch.
Kelly at least was silent, even if sullenly so. But not all the Democrats had their mouths glued shut. Here are two of the trend-setters in the Democrat party.
Note Talibs’s pin. She has less class than Chris Colt, of Jack Ruby’s Dallas nightclub.
More of the worst
One of the most moving moments and perhaps the most despicable applause boycott of the evening was Trump’s recognition of the mother of Iryna Zarutska, the Ukrainian immigrant who was killed by a knife-wielding lunatic on a Charlotte, NC train:
“We are honored to be joined tonight by a woman who’s been through hell, Anya Zarutska. In 2022, she and her beautiful daughter. So beautiful. What a beautiful young woman Iryna fled war-torn, war-torn Ukraine to live with relatives near Charlotte, North Carolina…. Last summer, 23-year-old Irina was riding home on the train when a deranged monster who had been arrested over a dozen times and was released through no cash bail, stood up and viciously slashed a knife through her neck and body. No one will ever forget. There were people on that train. No one will ever forget the expression of terror on Irene as she looked up at her attacker in the last seconds of her life. She died instantly. She had escaped a brutal war, only to be slain by a hardened criminal set free to kill in America came in through open borders. Mrs. Zarutska, tonight, I promise you, we will ensure justice for your magnificent daughter, Iryna.”

Watching the grief-stricken mother’s anguish as the President remembered her daughter was truly gut wrenching. But the Democrats were unmoved: They refused to stand or in any way acknowledge or pay their respects to Ms. Zarutska.
An incredulous Trump called them on it, “How do you not stand, how do you not stand?” But it made no difference.
The President also told the story of a young teenage girl whom the State of Maryland had been ripped from her family and subjected to untold barbarisms because her parents refused to allow her to be sexually mutilated.
“In the gallery tonight are Sage Blair and her mother, Michele. In 2021, Sage was 14 when school officials in Virginia sought to socially transition her to a new gender, treating her as a boy and hiding it from her parents. Hard to believe, isn’t it? Before long, a confused Sage ran away from home. After she was found in a horrific situation in Maryland, a left wing judge refused to return Sage to her parents because they did not immediately state that their daughter was their son. Sage was thrown into an all boys state home and suffered terribly for a long time. But today, all of that is behind them. Because Sage is a proud and wonderful young woman with a full ride scholarship to Liberty University. Sage and Rachelle, please stand up. And thank you for your great bravery….”
Again, Trump challenged the Democrats to support a simple proposition but their response was the same as when he asked them to acknowledge that their primary duty was to safeguard American citizens: zilch.
“But surely we can all agree no state can be allowed to rip children from their parents’ arms and transition them to a new gender against the parents’ will. Who would believe that we’re even talking about it? We must ban it, and we must ban it immediately.”
“Nobody stands up. These people are crazy. I’m telling them they’re crazy.”
“Amazing. Boy oh boy.”
Dems follow the lead of their media masters
When the U.S. men’s hockey team made their entrance, some of the Dems stood and applauded, but others could not bring themselves to celebrate the first gold medal in mens’ hockey that had Canada flying its flags at half-mast. You can see them here (click on “Clay Travis”).
The mute Dems were just taking their lead from their handlers at The New York Times who warned the team that they should not attend the SOTU. The Times acknowledged that BT (Before Trump), such appearances were accepted, even lauded:
In normal times, this would be an obligatory celebration for a championship team. They take presidential calls. They party too hard. They visit Washington and stroll through the corridors of power.
But AT, you see, that is no longer normal. This is Trump, for G—d’s sake. Whatever you do, you must not do anything that someone could interpret as support for him or his policies:
This isn’t a neutral president. And in a nation this polarized, the proximity carries weight whether the players are being intentional or merely naive.
The Times graciously acknowledges that that these Olympians are not necessarily evil like Trump — they are just naifs:
The hockey team neither created this divide nor possessed a shrewd political instinct to wrap their victory in a partisan glow. But when they stepped so early into that embrace, they narrowed their moment. It doesn’t ruin what they accomplished in defeating a seemingly indomitable Canadian squad. But the widespread celebration is over now. And some of their goodwill has diminished…. These are men who thrilled a nation and rocked the world, and as adults, they need to be more savvy….
And The Times warned the hockey team and the legislators who would be in the chamber that evening that anyone who displays the slightest respect for the office of the Presidency while Trump occupies it, will be at risk of losing prestige and power:
For a fleeting moment, those players quieted our noisy room and made it less toxic. And they’ve already lost some of the room.
It’s not because they set out to divide it. It’s just that, in America right now, proximity to power distorts the meaning of everything around it….
Shared moments are precious now. The men’s hockey team conjured some inspiration for an afternoon. That was the trophy to go with their medals. Then they dropped it.
So, the Dems got the message from the flagship of their media fleet: Don’t do anything that might tell the Country that Trump has done anything good. They obeyed. Their performance that evening displayed their slavish devotion to their tribe and their enmity of any non-members of that tribe.
The evening was filled with other insults to the American people, and the notion of good government, much less by any good will. But if you did not see the SOTU, the complete video is below. For quick reference, Trump’s challenge the lawmakers to acknowledge their primary duty of loyalty begins at 1:25:46. The story of Sage and Michele Blair starts at 1:32:32, and that of Iryna and of her mother’s anguish at 1:39:05.
But there is more, much more. Watch the whole thing for uplifting stories or heroism and American achievement.
And if anyone ever asks you why the GOP does not interact well with the Dems, ask them how you interact positively with someone who will not even acknowledge, much less honor, a distraught mother’s grief for her murdered daughter.
And a final personal note to readers
I have been unable to write much during the past several weeks for reasons beyond my control. But there is a lot going on in the world and I hope to improve on that failure. My ambition remains to write on issues with a slightly different perspective or in a way that has not been duplicated by dozens of others. My objective remains to post an article roughly every week, sometimes more frequently, although I have no set schedule. But thanks for reading and subscribing.

I've sort of run out of words to describe my contempt and disdain for these people.
We're living in completely separate realities. I have almost nothing in common with them.
I hope your fight is going well, John. Best wishes.
great article. God bless you.
