For my entire life Democrats have called people with whom they disagree all sorts of names; now their preferred execrative is Nazi, or fascist.
In doing so, Democrats are adopting the very same tactics real Nazis and real fascists used historically. In order to assert their moral superiority over their political opponents Democrats find it useful to “other” them, to make them less than human, to make them villains. If you don’t agree with Democrat / Progressive orthodoxy you are an Untermensch and the normal rules of civility don’t apply, and you don’t deserve the protections afforded to those who are part of the greater Progressive “Volk.”
It’s been a long time coming but a great many of our liberal fellow citizens have decided that pogroms against conservatives are morally defensible and, indeed, justified. There are next to no voices on the Democrat / Progressive side vigorously calling for the rhetoric and violence to be toned down, in fact, their leaders like Schumer openly call Republicans “bastards” and boast about sending activists to disrupt town halls to force Republican representatives to change their votes “like rats leaving a sinking ship.”
Hopefully, normal people will reject all this and the Democrat party will go the way of the Whigs. But the loudest voices in the Democrat / Progressive base are commie revolutionaries at heart, and their goal is to burn everything down if they don’t get their way.
Sounds like abject hypocrisy. Were you upset on Jan 6th? The constant threats against Congress people? How about the armed intimidation at state capitals and the angry terrorist who almost killed Paul Pelosi? The shoe is on the other foot and all of a sudden you find value in civility. Too late for that! Violence has been the Hallmark of the far right(ask the FBI) and the bullying continues. Democrats are now like Canada and properly pissed off. Stop the constant threats and insults and maybe then we can have civil discourse again.
"For my entire life Democrats have called people with whom they disagree all sorts of names; now their preferred execrative is Nazi, or fascist."
Now? They have compared literally every Republican Presidential candidate since WWII to Hitler.
But more relevant to your overall post, *of course* theya re doing what they are accusing people of. "Projection" has been the single most consistent attribute of the American left for at least 4 decades now.
As best I can tell, their thought process runs like this:
1) assume that I and my group are the good people
2) notice horrible racism, sexism, and anti-environmentalism among my group
3) assume everyone else is *so much worse* (see assumption in point 1), so lecture and name-call them.
It explains their behaviour so much better than any other explanation I can find.
Whenever you have a discussion with people about this you can short-circuit and avoid wasting time by asking the simple question "Do you support the firebombing of Teslas and other terrorists attacks against their facilities or cars, or people harassing individual Tesla owners?"
If the answer is anything other than an immediate "no, that's wrong and should not be condoned" or the equivalent, you know you are dealing with someone morally unfit to be bothered with. Move on with your life and drop contact with them if at all possible.
My husband was discussing the Tesla situation with a couple of neighbors who indicated he was overstating the situation. It is actually "sporadic". HTG, if you don't watch or read conservative media, you have no idea what's really happening in the world.
John - - Seems to me BONDI & THE BOYS, Kash-Bongino, might focus on RICO prosecutions. And then state Atty Gens could use similar prosecutions to double whop the malefactors.
The faster such criminal charges hit, the faster this wave of Libtarduan behaviors gets squelched.
It’s a small step from activism to terrorism. One just needs simple minded jug headed peeps and then provide them some sort of direction.
Lack of
morals, education, indoctrination and lots of hate and envy provides the fuel. We must stand firmly, resist and not be afraid….. because they want us to be afraid. Don’t be afraid!
I've already written and submitted for publication my column this week on the Terrorists attacking Tesla and its owners/dealers. It is a real, well-funded attack. It reeks of George Soros and his Marxist ways. The Tesla has a video camera which has recorded many of the attacks upon the cars. Many keyings of the Tesla have been recorded, and the perpetrators are easily identified. Others show milder but more disgusting attacks which include urinating on the cars or smearing them with dog feces. The good news is with these videos the guilty can be shamed in social media where everyone who knows the perps can see them do these things. I am confident Pam Bondi will find and send some of the arsonists to prison.
There's an interesting theory making the rounds on Xitter, that Elon is collecting the photo records of all this activity, along with the names thus discovered (not impossible, since he owns the most effective AI in current existence), and he will use that AI to ferret out the patterns and connections that lead to the owners, financers, and operators of these NPC plug-in "terrorists." After which he will launch the mother of all lawsuits and bankrupt every single one of them, then jail as many as feasible.
That sounds like something Elon Musk would do, and it sounds like a great plan. Follow the money, as Deep Throat once said. It's going to lead back the The Dirty Deeds Not Done Cheap Gang. Soros. Clintons. Obamas. Pelosi. Biden. The NGOs they sent billion$ to inappropriately. Musk has his lawsuit, individually. Tesla has its lawsuit, in addition. And all Tesla owners will have their causes of action for actual damages, punitive damages, and for the acts of instilling fear in their entire population of owners.
I wasn't disgusted for the simple reason that I was entirely unsurprised. It is difficult to be "disgusted" at a scorpion for behaving like a scorpion, and I've known the FBI was a scorpion since the 1960s.
I’ve been much slower on the uptake. It took covid, the Russia Trump collusion hoax, 10 years of blatant MSM continuous bs and lies and 2 or 3 years of the Biden Administration’s malfeasance to finally realize how utterly corrupt and malevolent our Ruling Class institutions had become.
And whose major competition came from the Japanese rice burners that also caught on in the 1970's as Detroit forgot how to compete.
BTW, the Greatest Generation, the men who actually fought, bled and died in WW2 did not lump the Imperial Japanese and the German Nazis together. They were considered separately and after the war, these vets did not call the Japanese Nazis. Nonetheless, they were in no hurry to rush out and buy Japanese cars. In my hometown of Muncie Indiana, a major regional auto manufacturing locale, when I was growing up, if you were foolish enough to park a Japanese car on the street, you could expect some damage.
Further, as I recall it, the Japanese were generally more disliked than the Germans in the post war years by the veterans. I think the nature of the war there was dirtier and even more vicious than the European theaters.
My dad lived to be 99, and as far as I recall, he never knowingly bought *anything* manufactured in Germany or Japan. Oddly, he wasn't very high on the British, either. I don't think he ever forgave them for the Revolution or 1812, since he lost family members in both conflicts.
Thanks you for the article, Blue. I am like Wally Kaine - I cannot accept the behavior of the mindset that thinks destroying Teslas is a rational, meaningful act. Ernie - I do understand your comment about leaving the military out of politics, but I also find that act acceptable if it will prevent a total disaster on Mar 29 - or any other time - because of mentally defective actions. I get this mindset from Vietnam - you must do whatever is necessary to provide security and protection against those who wish to do you and yours from harm. If you don't understand that mindset, ask some criminal immigrants to invade your house and kill your wife and kids - then ask yourself whether military assistance would have been a good option. It is all about priorities - do you value security above misguided principles/attitudes/opinions??
I'm sorry. In fact I didn't finish the sentence before someone rang and I had to quite…I must have pushed the wrong button…
Do not send the army or National Guard…give Every Tesla employee a rifle on the understanding that they will roster 24 hour guard on the showrooms and organise civil armed guards around each others house who owns a Tesla.
I don't own a Tesla but my neighbor does and I like your idea of keeping an eye out for him. He has an outside charging station so even if he garages the Tesla he may still be a target. Wonder what the penalty will be for shooting someone attacking my neighbor's Tesla? If the thing catches on fire, my home is in jeopardy so am I justified???????????
I don't buy German or Japanese either. In fact, I would never buy any import. My mother's oldest brother was killed in France during World War II, the second oldest brother had a Purple Heart from Guadal Canal. Both countries are unapologetic about that history. Germans and most of the rest of the world envy and despise the U.S. My best defense is to refuse to contribute to their revenue stream.
This entire Tesla situation means I'm probably going to have to give up the Lincoln Aviator I've been looking at for some sort of Tesla to make a statement. We have Tesla stock because of Elon, but we're not bought into EV yet...and we're Republicans. We don't jump on every half-baked leftist doctrinal cult every six months.
"Buying a car has long been a highly political act. Early on following World War II there was tremendous resentment against people who bought German or Japanese cars."
That's not historically accurate. Sales of VWs in the US increased every year, from 2 cars in 1949 to over 117,000 units in 1960. As for Japanese cars, Toyota and Nissan didn't even start selling cars in the U.S. until 1958, thirteen years after WWII was over. Honda didn't start selling cars here, until 1969 with the tiny (smaller than an original Mini) N600.
There were Jews who wouldn't buy VWs but then Jews in general also avoided Ford products until Henry Ford II righted some of the wrongs of his grandfather.
Since I was there, I will feel free to contradict you. Further, 117,000 units in 1960 was a piddling drop in the bucket of the overall US auto market. Also, those cars weren't all that good. For one thing, their heaters were mostly non-existent, which did not make them a good fit with north American winters.
I was there too, in Detroit, and I've been writing about automotive history for the past 18 years. Six figures for a single model was a solid success in 1960. The success of Volkswagen pushed the American car companies to introduce compact cars like the Rambler American, Ford Falcon, Chevy Corvair (with an air-cooled rear engine, just like the VW, and Pontiac Tempest. In 1961, the VW Beetle sold almost 300,000 units, almost as many as the Corvair and outselling the Rambler American, Studebaker Lark, Pontiac Tempest, Buick Special, and Oldsmobile F-85.
Nobody gave Elvis a hard time about his little Messerschmidt.
When did Elon Musk become a Nazi? One does not espouse Nazi/Fascism ideologue overnight, or even over a year. So was Musk a Nazi when he was supportive of the democrat party? A Nazi when he developed the first successful EV, or SpaceX, or Boring, or StarLink? Maybe it was when he highly overpaid for Twitter, renaming it X and promoting free speech; sorry, cannot be that since Nazi/Fascists do not believe in free speech.
I think we know exactly who the Nazi/Fascists are and it is not Musk or DJT!
Millions of advanced electric vehicles made by Americans in America is conveniently ignored for narcissistic performative politics. If this doesn't prove the glaring hypocrisy of the Left, I don't know what can.
To this day, there is still a historical boycott against German car products of ALL makes--not just VW, but BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc.--by both devout and cultural Jews in the USA. And some to this day will boycott Fords. I've known several who had enough money to get whatever they wanted, and they ended up with Saabs and Jaguars. They admitted to me that it wasn't necessarily their own personal viewpoint, but those of their parents and other synagogue members that drove the decisions.
Mind you, it matters not one whit if the VW was built in Pennsylvania (that plant is now long gone), Tennessee, or Mexico; the BMW in South Carolina, the Toyota in some American plant, etc. The ludicrousness of the current car manufacturing scene is that my 1990s vintage Saturns have parts made in Thailand, Canada, South Korea, Mexico, and a dozen other countries at least; it's even more diverse now.
For my entire life Democrats have called people with whom they disagree all sorts of names; now their preferred execrative is Nazi, or fascist.

Even that's ridiculous because one would be too many
"Oh it's just a little terrorism what are you worried about". Get out of here with that
If that was a reply, I'd be tempted to ask them if they felt the same way about George Floyd. "Oh Derick was just one cop..." etc

She's an apparatchik. Wait till Musk takes action.
Was disgusted in 2020 by the obvious intentional failure of the FBI to go after violent Antifa/BLM criminals and whoever was supporting them.
I wasn't disgusted for the simple reason that I was entirely unsurprised. It is difficult to be "disgusted" at a scorpion for behaving like a scorpion, and I've known the FBI was a scorpion since the 1960s.

The only car company started by the nazis for nazis is Volkswagen - the car that became emblematic for the left during the 1960s.
And whose major competition came from the Japanese rice burners that also caught on in the 1970's as Detroit forgot how to compete.

That is consistent with the impressions I had when I was a kid and everybody’s dad was a WW 2 vet.
My dad lived to be 99, and as far as I recall, he never knowingly bought *anything* manufactured in Germany or Japan. Oddly, he wasn't very high on the British, either. I don't think he ever forgave them for the Revolution or 1812, since he lost family members in both conflicts.
A car can’t fight back. Easy pickings for cowards.
Keep the army and national guard out of politics...
Using the military in defense of the nation and her people is not politics. It is why we have a military.
