On January 5, 2024, President Biden gave what must go down as the most inflammatory and divisive Presidential speech in the country’s history. He green-lighted his supporters waging the most negative and divisive campaign possible. Attempting to compare himself to George Washington, Biden simultaneously labeled Trump as the second coming of Adolph Hitler, who will seize power as a dictator and who literally will kill his political enemies and destroy our system of government. This is unprecedented in presidential addresses.
Biden’s portrayal of Trump as a dictator was worthy of emulation by Kim Jong Un. If elected, he supposedly will do away with the three branches of government and the Constitution, in order to rule as a totalitarian despot who will ban books, outlaw homosexuality, whip up racist assaults, and engage in other sins, all while imprisoning and killing his opponents and starting wars.
Where to begin? Let us start with Biden’s inaugural speech in January 2021? Does anyone remember what he said then?
“History, faith, and reason show the way, the way of unity. We can see each other not as adversaries but as neighbors. We can treat each other with dignity and respect. We can join forces, stop the shouting and lower the temperature. For without unity there is no peace, only bitterness and fury. No progress, only exhausting outrage. No nation, only a state of chaos. This is our historic moment of crisis and challenge, and unity is the path forward.”
Not to put it too delicately, but what a crock. Biden’s January 5 speech, like so much he has spewed before, was anything but unifying. It was nothing but a vicious personalized attack on Donald Trump and anyone who might support him over Biden. Despite the phony promises in Biden’s 2021 inaugural address, it was chock full of “bitterness and fury,” and marked by obvious anger and “shouting.”
Contrary to his inaugural promise, it did nothing to “lower the temperature,” much less “show the way of unity.” As for the “chaos” and “crisis” that Biden promised to prevent, the nation remains in a continual state of both crisis and chaos from Biden’s intentional promotion of the multi-national invasion across our southern border, the degradation of our military, and his pusillanimous policies in the Mideast.
Despite his efforts to compare himself to George Washington, Biden’s speech in Valley Forge was the worst, most divisive presidential address in history. Do you doubt me? Consider just the below examples of his rhetoric. The bullet points below are quotes from Biden’s speech. They are followed by my comments in regular font. Quotes from any source are italicized.
TRUMP, THE NAZI DICTATOR, WILL DESTROY DEMOCRACY.
“He [Trump] went on to say he’d be a dictator on day one.”
One should not even have to argue that Trump is not a Nazi or would-be dictator, but here we are. I will not fall into the trap of spending time on a comprehensive rebuttal of this historically illiterate smear both of Trump and half the country. A rebuttal showing that it is the Biden administration, not Trump, that has been attempting to ignore and override the Constitution and assume dictatorial powers could be book-length. The relevant point for this article is that this calumny is beyond the limits of what was once considered to be respectable political argument and that it gives the lie to Biden’s claim to be a healer who represents all the people.
Moreover, Trump’s comment about being a dictator from day one was obviously a caustic attempt at humor when Trump was being interviewed by Sean Hannity. As he explained at the time, Hannity asked him, “You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?” Trump then said, “No, no, no, other than day one. We’re closing the border, and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.” So, Trump, the twenty-four-hour dictator, will drill, baby, drill, and close the border. And supposedly serious people, including the President of the United States, try to scare voters with that.
“He talks about the blood of America’s is being poisoned, echoing the same exact language used in Nazi Germany…. There’s no confusion about who Trump is, what he intends do.”
Trump is a Nazi, people. Wake up because he will do what the Nazis did. He will start a war that will kill millions. More millions will die in gas chambers. His minions will no doubt make lampshades from their skins.
“This is not rhetorical, academic or hypothetical. Whether democracy is still America’s sacred cause is the most urgent question of our time. And it’s what the 2024 election is all about.”
Oh no, calling Trump a Nazi is not rhetoric. Biden wouldn’t stoop so low. Would he?
“We’re living in an era where a determined minority is doing everything in its power to try to destroy our democracy for their own agenda…. Democracy is on the ballot. Your freedom is on the ballot…. And now these MAGA voices, who know the truth about Trump on January sixth, have abandoned the truth and abandoned the democracy. They made their choice….”
When Biden ominously says, “They have made their choice. . . .” his “they” refers to you, if you dare vote for Trump. As Trump has said, he is not the target, you are. You have made your choice: We will see how you like early-morning FBI raids on your homes if you dare protest. And you wouldn’t mind a few IRS audits, would you?
And speaking of “doing everything … to try to destroy our democracy,” Biden and his allies are “doing everything in [their] power” to keep Trump off the ballot in as many states as possible, so that millions of voters are denied the right to vote for the candidate of their choice. So much for “democracy.” And, no, I don’t want to hear that Biden and his captive DOJ did not initiate those suits. Biden has continually signaled that Trump is so evil that any measures are justified to stop him. That is why we have not heard a peep from Biden or anyone else at the White House condemning those unconstitutional efforts by their cronies in Colorado, Maine and elsewhere.
“And I promise you, I will not let Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans force us to walk away [from the ideals of the Declaration of Independence] now.”
Biden would do well to read our Declaration of Independence, where the Founding Fathers made clear the people’s right to overthrow an oppressive regime: They said:
“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends [the enjoyment of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness], it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
Amen.
“You can’t have a contest, you can’t have a contest, if you see politics as an all-out war instead of a peaceful way to resolve our differences. All-out war is what Trump wants.”
For Biden to accuse Trump of want an “all-out war” while in the process of delivering his declaration of a highly personalized war against Trump, is either the height of Biden’s lack of self-awareness, or just another blatant lie, for which he knows that the Court Media will not hold him accountable.
And, at the risk of stating the obvious, Biden and his minions are trying to strip Trump of his assets and put him in prison for the rest of his life. Inquiring minds want to know, does that qualify as an all-out political war?
THE “INSURRECTION” THAT WASN’T.
Throughout his speech, Biden continually referred to the events at the capitol on January 6 as an “insurrection.” That is Goebbels-worthy propaganda — the “insurrection” is a hoax. As Roger Kimball has said in his masterful “January 6 Insurrection Hoax,”
“Because the more footage we see from the events of that day, the clearer it becomes that what happened on January 6, 2021, was not an insurrection. Moreover, Donald Trump, far from egging on his supporters to violence, went out of his way to urge them to protest peacefully. “I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful,” he Tweeted that afternoon. “No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”
I originally put the participants in the Capital protest into three categories, which I called RPG’s. The R’s are the Rioters, of which there certainly were some; the P’s are the Protesters, many of whom were ordinary and law-abiding citizens exercising their First Amendment rights to protest, and many of whom were ushered into the Capitol building by Capitol Police holding the doors open for them and snapping selfies; the G’ are the Gawkers, who followed the crowd to the Capitol where they walked inside and just gawked at the statuary and the majesty of the building for a few minute before leaving.
As more facts came out including when the director of the FBI would not say how many Federal agents or paid informants there were in the crowd, it became apparent that there is another category of participants on January 6: It is the Fed’s (or the F’s for short). Thus, we have the RPG’s +F’s, but we don’t know how many of the apparent rioters were also Feds. No one may ever know. The New York post has reported that according to a former assistant director of the FBI, “The FBI had so many paid informants at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, that it lost track of the number and had to perform a later audit to determine exactly how many “Confidential Human Sources” run by different FBI field offices were present that day.” Biden’s Attorney General, the discredited Merrick Garland also claimed that he did not know how many “government agents or assets were present on or around January 6.”
“This is the first national election since January sixth insurrection placed a dagger at the throat of American democracy…. Trump’s mob wasn’t a peaceful protest. It was a violent assault. They were insurrectionists, not patriots….”
The “insurrection” lasted all of six hours. No protester had a gun. The only shot fired was the fatal shot fires by an irresponsible police officer that killed the unarmed Ashli Babbitt. Some “insurrection.”
“You can’t be pro-insurrectionist and pro-American.”
Oh, really? Biden appears to be ignorant of the fact that our country was founded by an “insurrection,” and a fully armed one at that.
“In fact, in the rotunda of the Capitol, there’s a giant painting of General George Washington, not President Washington. And he is resigning his commission as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army…. [The] mob that attacked the Capitol, waving Trump flags and Confederate flags, stormed right past that portrait. That image of George Washington gave them no pause, but it should have.”
Multiple videos from January 6 show the so-called “mob” walking peacefully through the Rotunda, staying outside the roped-off areas, while being casually watched by Capitol Police. Here is one. Watch it; it is informative with a hilarious voice-over.
Roger Kimball is correct – The “insurrection” is a hoax, right up there with Russia, Russia, Russia, and the Steele Dossier.
LIES, EXAGGERATIONS AND MORE LIES.
Relatively early in Biden’s term, I authored an article in The Federalist titled “If Biden’s Team Will Lie About His Dog Biting, What Won’t They Lie About? (thefederalist.com). Read it and then consider Biden’s speech, if you can stomach it. The transcript is here. The only honest conclusion you can reach is that the answer to the question posed by the title of my earlier article is, “There is nothing they won’t lie about.” A smattering of examples follows.
“Jill and I attended the funeral of police officers who died as a result of the events of that day. Because Donald, because of Donald Trump’s lies, they died because these lies brought a mob to Washington.”
The government and the uncurious media initially spread the falsehood that the protestors at the Capitol killed five people, including police officers. That myth has been thoroughly refuted. You may recall the lie from “law enforcement authorities” that a police officer was killed when bashed in the head with a fire extinguisher. Who makes up this stuff? The Capitol Police finally acknowledged that the officer “died of natural causes.” The only person killed on January 6, was Ashli Babbitt, victim of a highly questionable shooting by a Capitol Police officer. There is ample reason to believe that the government has covered-up the officer’s culpability for the killing of this unarmed woman, who pretty clearly could have been restrained with non-lethal force since she was being pushed head-first through an open window with multiple armed officers ready to restrain her. Her killing was analogous to George Floyd if he had been shot in the head at the first sign of resistance.
“This coming from a president who called, when he visited his cemetery, called dead soldiers “suckers and losers.” Remember that? Sometimes I’m really happy the Irish in me can’t be seen. It was right around the time was at Beau’s grave. Tommy. How dare he? Who in God’s name does he think he is?”
Although Biden’s teleprompter reading here is somewhat incoherent, the claim about dead soldiers was first made in The Atlantic during the presidential campaign in 2020. The Atlantic relied on an anonymous source of unknown credibility and motive. The claim was disputed by numerous people who were at the location with Trump when he supposedly said it, including John Bolton, no fan of Trump. It has also been reported that Trump’s former Chief of Staff, Marine General John Kelly, confirmed the allegations, but none of the reporting I have seen alleges that Kelly heard the comments, as opposed to just repeating what he had read in The Atlantic, or had been told by other unknown people. Even the left-leaning Snopes has been unable to verify the claim.
For Biden to resurrect this stale and unverified claim is a sign of desperation, nothing more.
“He [Trump] calls those who opposed, oppose him vermin.”
What Trump actually said was, "We will put America first and today, especially in honor of our great veterans on Veterans Day, we pledge to you that we will root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country, that lie and cheat and steal on elections…."
In a way (albeit, not one that Biden intended), both Biden’s and Trump’s statements are true – Trump did say that communists, fascists and radical left thugs have burrowed into our society “like vermin.” That is true, but obviously is a long way from Biden’s intended implication, that Trump labeled all who oppose him as “vermin.”
“One Capitol Police officer called it [the “insurrection”] a medieval battle.”
A “medieval battle”? Really? Did anyone have his head cleaved by a battle ax? Disemboweled by a claymore? Run through by a lance? Did the “insurrectionists” cut the throats of officers whom they had taken prisoner? How did MSNBC miss that?
This is a colorful metaphor, but it is a gross exaggeration by an unidentified police officer whose motives are unknown. It gives the lie to Biden’s denial that he was engaging in “rhetoric.”
“Trump’s claims about the 2020 election never could stand up in court. Trump lost 60 court cases. Sixty…. Trump exhausted every legal avenue available to him to overturn the election. Every one, but the legal path just took Trump back to the truth, that I’d won the election and he was a loser.”
This oft-repeated refrain is highly misleading. Those suits raised serious questions that should concern anyone who values fair and honest elections. However, to my knowledge, none of these cases was decided on the merits after full discovery and a trial. No depositions to take testimony under oath, or subpoenas to secure all relevant documents. Most or all these suits were dismissed for technical reasons, such as lack of standing.
One example was the suit by the State of Texas to contest the 2020 election results in several key states. For example, Pennsylvania’s Democrat Secretary of State made a unilateral decision “to set aside several Pennsylvania statutes requiring signature verification for absentee or mail-in ballots.” The Supreme Court dismissed that suit for lack of standing, holding, “Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections.” This left unanswered the serious questions Texas raised, and still leaves the authorities free to try the same shenanigans again in 2024. This may not have been an “insurrection,” since it was not accomplished by force and violence, but the outcome was the same.
“Look at the authoritarian leaders and dictators Trump says he admires. He out loud says he admires.”
This is another twist of the truth. As The Hill reported, “The former president warned the audience of supporters that “the threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within. Because if you have a capable, competent, smart, tough leader, Russia, China, North Korea, they’re not going to want to play with us.”
Trump’s concern about threats from within is why federal officers take an oath to defend the Constitution from all enemies, “foreign and domestic.”
Trump’s statement also mirrors Lincoln’s famous quote, “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” Millions of Americans – the same “MAGA” voters whom Biden derides for wanting to make America great again – share that concern. Their concern is in light of Biden’s attacks on those who oppose him politically, from anti-abortion protestors to parents protesting radical and destructive policies at their children’s schools, and his effort to imprison his leading political opponent.
And, there is no question but that Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un are smart and tough. By their standards they are also capable and competent, if evil. Biden’s simplistic statement that Trump “admires” these leaders is misleading, at best.
“From those who traffic in lies, told for power and profit. For those who are driven by grievance and grift, consumed by conspiracy and victimhood.”
For the “Big Guy,” father of Hunter Biden, the renowned artist and international financier, to complain about grift, is beyond parody.
“We still believe that no one, not even the president, is above the law.”
I categorize this under “Lies” because Biden obviously does not believe that it is true. He plainly believes that he, and often his supporters, are above the law. Examples abound and a comprehensive listing would occupy multiple pages. Consider just Biden’s purloining of classified documents, while his FBI agents picked through Melania’s underwear in search of classified documents in Trump’s possession after raiding his home. And reflect on how his DOJ attempted to thwart legitimate criminal investigation of Hunter and his prosecution, and then attempted to sneak through an unprecedented sweetheart deal for Hunter on other charges. Not above the law? Poppycock.
WRAPPING IT UP
What does real leadership, a sincere effort to bind the country together, look like? We know because we have seen it before:
“With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan – to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.”

The principal purposes of Biden’s irresponsible and inflammatory speech were, I submit, three-fold: (1) make Trump appear as deranged and dangerous as possible to justify any extraordinary measures to remove him from the ballot and imprison him, (2) to let the Democrat base know that anything goes; no tactics are too dirty; and (3) to divert attention from Biden’s sorry and indefensible record.
The Country is desperate for real leadership that will make America great again.[1] It will take work and will not be for the faint-of-heart.

Biden doesn't know what it's like to be a leader because he's never been one, he's always been a partisan political animal. He may hold the office of President but the reality is he's nothing more than the mediocre blowhard Senator from Delaware he's always been and his approach to leadership is what you'd expect from any other mediocre blowhard Senator: he reacts but doesn't lead, he does what's politically expedient, he acts primarily in his own self interest, he shifts blame and never takes accountability, and he relies on his staff to tell him what to do.
Joe Biden epitomizes the dysfunctional state of American politics today. He built his entire political career on a Walter Mitty-esque phony personal biography, with lies and smears of his opponents, and he corruptly leveraged every office he ever held for monetary profit and political influence. The man possesses a breathtaking blend of narcissism, cravenness, ambition, mediocre intellect, and arrogance that is dangerous in someone exercising so much power. It's hard to downplay Biden's negative impact on this Country as a result of his 50 years "public service."
I used to think Biden would go down in history mainly because he, along with Teddy Kennedy destroyed the Senate's judicial confirmation process and as a result turned the judiciary into the partisan mess we're saddled with today. Unfortunately, Biden's 4 years as President (God forbid he has longer) will viewed in an even worse light...much worse.
