Twenty-four years after dedicated radical Muslims crashed to airliners into the World Trade Center towers killing thousands of New Yorkers, New York City is on the verge of a precipice, poised to elect its first dedicated radical Muslim socialist as Mayor.
If elected in the general election, Zohran Mamdani’s policies would wreak further havoc on New York. And to compound the problem, senior Democrats have made clear that the aim is to expand those disastrous policies from sea to shining sea. Sadly, that has come to be expected from the red diaper babies and their indoctrinated allies who pledge no loyalty other than to their political tribe, however deranged it may have become.
Who is Zohran Mamdani?
Who knows? But we can get some idea by looking at what he promised during his campaign. Plot spoiler: “Free s**t for everyone but the rich will pay.”
Like some other Democrat “progressive” politicos, Mamdani camouflages his communist economic preferences with the label “Democratic Socialist.” But unlike, say, Obama, he does not attempt to conceal his socialist agenda:
Free universal child care.
Free city bus service.
All New York rent-controlled apartments will be subject to a rent freeze.
A “network” of government-owned and run grocery stores that will have lower prices because they will be on City property and will not have to pay rent or property taxes. With these government subsidies for city-owned grocery stores, private stores would be forced out of business. The City would soon have a monopoly. [For those who doubted my label of “communist” for Mandani, think about that one.]
New taxes on businesses. Will they be forbidden to pass the resulting costs on to consumers?
Increased taxes on “the wealthy.”
Implement the Palestinian BDS campaign. Meaning . . .
Boycott Israeli businesses and those who do business with them. This would include companies such as Chevron, Texaco, Intel, Dell, Disney, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Re/Max, Dominos, and others.
Divest all investments in any Israeli business. This would require New York City to divest but presumably a Mamdani-led city government would bring pressure on universities and businesses in NYC to divest if they want friendly treatment by the City.
Sanction Israel and implement an immediate arms embargo. This, of course, to remove the military advantage built by a country surrounded by millions of enemies.
A promise by the would-be mayor to arrest the prime minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu.
“Globalize the intifada.” Remember, that’s not just a feel-good slogan. It is the war cry of those who riot, destroy and kill.
So how did that agenda play in New York City?
The Democratic primary results — A quick summary
Mamdani won a decisive victory in the NYC primary with a decisive margin over former governor Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo conceded the race to Mamdani without even waiting for the ranked-choice tallies. No one else was within hailing distance.
The voter preference demographics tell a curious story. Widely circulated polling results by Emerson College showed that Cuomo led Mamdani among voters without a four-year college degree by 61% to 39%. But among college-educated voters the script flipped. Voters who were college graduates preferred Mamdani over Cuomo by almost the exact same ratio: 62% to 38%. What does that tell you about the propaganda that is being fed to university students in exchange for enormous tuition payments? They believe what their Marxist professors tell them so, of course, they vote for a Marxist.
The New York Times spin
The New York Times summarized its view of the mayoral race in ‘We Have Won,’ Mamdani Says, as Cuomo Concedes N.Y.C. Mayoral Primary.1 The Times asked a dozen of its political reporters to provide their views and comments on Mamdani and the election. Those reporters, in turn, collected quotes from such camera-seeking Democratic and Trump-hating stalwarts (please excuse the redundancy) as Leticia James, David Axelrod, and James Carville.
The Times made a modest effort to present some of the opposition arguments against Mamdani’s candidacy, but, like the scorpion in the Scorpion and the Frog fable, it cannot change its nature. Much of its “reporting” is pure Mamdani worship. It also promotes the expansion of his Marxist agenda nationwide. If you’re worried about economists and people who have real world experience with the results of price fixing, government-run enterprises, and the failures of socialism, fear not because the Times assures us that Mamdani has a “fresh vision.” His socialism will work this time. He promises.
The Times led with a lengthy summation by Nicholas Fandos, who immediately went to the nation-wide promotion of Mamdani. He is “a breakout national figure” who “offered a potential road map for Democrats searching for a path back to power.”
Although Fandos identified some of the opposition points against Mandani, his preferences showed through: Mamdani has an “exuberant style” and a “demonstrative love for New York.’ His message is not socialist nonsense but rather is “an optimistic message about affordability and the rising cost of living that has eluded many national Democrats.” I will be waiting for equally laudatory observations about President Trump.
Times reporters Dana Rubenstein and Alyce McFadden headlined their included piece, “In a joyful victory speech, Mamdani vows to work for ‘each and every New Yorker.’ For them, Mamdani’s victory speech was not only “joyful,” but was a “soaring” “promise to lift up New York City’s working class and serve as a model for the future of his party.” Did I say anything about worship?
And Mamdani promised to use government power in the aid of sedition because he promises to “stop masked ICE agents from deporting our neighbors.”
Times reporter Jeff Mayes, who touts his supposed fairness and objectivity, praised Mamdani’s “triumph” which would help workers.
Zohran Mamdani’s victory speech is focused on his plan to uplift working class New Yorkers. His victory was a triumph over the influence of corporate money and the millions of dollars donated to super PACs by billionaires such as former Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.
Economics in not Mayes’ strong point.
Reporter Liam Stack helpfully provided some quotes from prominent Democrats. Obama’s fellow red diaper baby, David Axelrod latched on to the ‘Republicans seize’ meme:
“There is no doubt that Trump and Republicans will try and seize on him as a kind of exemplar of what the Democratic Party stands for,” Mr. Axelrod said. “The thing is, he seems both principled and agile and deft enough to confront those sort of conventional plays.”
Stack sought out James Carville who, as usual, wanted to be heard. Carville said . . . . essentially nothing. He did provide what someone (I believe it was Dan Jenkins) described as a “penetrating glimpse into the obvious:”
“Everybody will have to weigh in one way or another. Everybody is going to be asked, do they support him.”
And Carville gets paid for that kind of penetrating analysis.
And do not yield to the fascists, for the New Age is coming.
Dana Rubinstein provided a valuable public service by quoting Letitia James, her own bad self. Mamdani is, you see, a second coming of the Lightbringer:
“It really represents the excitement that I saw on the streets all throughout the City of New York,” said Letitia James, the New York attorney general. “I haven’t seen this since Barack Obama ran for president of these United States.”
Curb your enthusiasm.
Unless otherwise noted, all quotes below are from that article.
There are a little more than 8.4 million residents of NYC. I don't know how many are eligible to vote but only around 1 million voted in their primary election.
After the Czar was overthrown the Bolsheviks were a minority party but they showed up for committee meetings and they got themselves appointed to important government offices. Eventually, they took over. NYC is living proof that a motivated minority can take power if they're the ones who show up and vote and the majority don't bother.
Apathy has a cost.
Democrats have lost their minds. It's as if they have hired Toonces the Cat to do their driving. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fvsItXYgzk
