There are a little more than 8.4 million residents of NYC. I don't know how many are eligible to vote but only around 1 million voted in their primary election.
After the Czar was overthrown the Bolsheviks were a minority party but they showed up for committee meetings and they got themselves appointed to important government offices. Eventually, they took over. NYC is living proof that a motivated minority can take power if they're the ones who show up and vote and the majority don't bother.
Twenty four years, not 14, since that dreadful day, but it seems like yesterday. And no one seems to mind a replay of the disastrous DeBlasio mayoralty. We’d better hope Adam’s ekes out a victory (Sliwa is a sentimental favorite for many of us, but his day is over).
